Horizontal – Anthony Collins – Under Your Spell EP – Horizontal 12

It’s summer – in case you hadn’t realised – and, never a label to be discourteous to the Sun Gods, Horizontal is proud to offer a robustly breezy release from accomplished French producer, Anthony Collins. Continuing the rich vein of form that has earned him notable success on labels such as Mule and Freak N Chic, Collins once again proves his mettle in typically discerning fashion.

Grooves that are intricate yet fluid, sounds both tech and organic, and mood-embracing funk are the signatures we have come to expect from the Frenchman, and all are present in abundance on Horizontal 012. Take, for instance, A-Side Gone Too Long, with its weaving guitar-hooks, celestial chords and fanciful piano-rolls comfortably occupying the same berth as a relentlessly techy beat and electrofied bass riff: the simultaneous versatility is effortless.

The good vibes continue to cascade on B-Side track, Fenceless, with a repeat of the piano-guitar frolics culminating in a breakdown to pop a smile on even the most club-weary of faces. Waiting For You sees Collins build a sparser soundscape laced with elegance and restraint.
Panacustica – Cosmic Metal Mother – Rat´s Poem (incl. Prins Thomas Mix) – PC002

One year later the label Panacustica delivers a slamming second twelve inch “Rat’s poem”, an original work from Cosmic Metal Mother followed by a brilliant Prins Thomas remix, plus a Detroit inspired instrumental by Stay gold, Argento’s alter ego. The record opens with a dreamy version where a plucked string intro and Rat’s voice drive you into a deep, cinematic, adult dance groove. This laid back, psychedelic track flows well beyond your usual dance floor act into Eno-esque territories. Prins Thomas‘s mix is faster, happier and jumpier. It’s an amazing balearic trip with a live warm feel to it in which a guitar plays along the melody, accentuating the spaced out feel of the track, lifting it into higher states. Stay gold gives the listeners a techno version where sparse, mechanical drums and a minimized melody take us to the motor city (citta’ dei motori) for a night drive in the dark. Own it, feel it, play it loud.
Soiree Records – Cloud Master Weed – Com´On´N´Join´Us – SRT147

From suburban Paris, France hails the man known as CloudMasterWeed.
His impecable turntable skills and expertise beat manufacturing has him ontop of his game for many years. Ironically CloudmasterWeed’s hometown is called Meaux, which he likes to refer to as MeauxTown. It just so happens that most of his influences come from a city across the Atlantic by the same name, Motown. These Detroit influences are clearly made manifest by the deep, soulful grooves and melodies heard on Com’On’N’Join’Us. Closing, Drivetrain remixes the title track. A raw, dance floor filler with an authentic tech edge.
Finally, a new, true Doering, whose other name Dirty is something of a fake-out: “I Would” captivates the listener with clean, maximum minimal beauty, in typical Doering style. The melodies swing gentle as a cradle, the beats take effect in a supporting role and the vocals, though sparsely deployed, complete the demand for inner harmony. The elements combine to create a languorous, warm feeling around the heart – a flawless hit.
And what’s Marcus Meinhardt up to? He lays a hint of boom behind the track, plays with the curiosity created by delay, and garnishes the whole thing with a few more sound delights.
Acid Pauli, well, he does what Acid Pauli must do: lengthening the track to almost ten minutes, he builds a myriad of levels for psychoactive play, slowly pushing the track to its apex and slowly bringing it back, so that it can almost go without the guiding vocals.
With the digital Bonus Remix by Matthew Styles, the tempo gets yet another push. He loses the vocals altogether, mixes in a pinch of ambient and deftly puts the focus on the hypnotic undertow of the track, holding it for a full 19 minutes.

„I Would“ besticht nämlich in typisch Doeringscher Manier mit sauberer maximaler minimal Schönheit. Melodie-Elemente schaukeln sanft wie eine Kinderwiege, Beats wirken unterstützend und Vocals werden spärlich eingesetzt, aber vervollständigen im Laufe des Tracks den inneren Harmonieanspruch und formen sich zu einem wohlig warmen Gefühl in der Brust. Ein lupenreiner Hit also. Und was macht Markus Meinhardt?

Integrity Constraint Part 1 is the first in a series of aDepth audio releases by Glasgow resident Arne Weinberg. Weinberg, originally from Germany, earned his stripes with brilliant releases on respected techno labels including his own AW-Recordings. Like all aDepth audio releases, the Integrity Constraint 12” includes a remix with a distinctly different interpretation of one of the tracks. We’re kickstarting this one with a Kirk Degiorgio remix.
The EP’s opening track The Circle combines deep house vibes with Arne’s beloved signature sound - evolving synth textures and unusual rhythms - with lots of soul and feeling. The EP’s second original track Desdemonia slows the tempo a little, while a lead analogue bass finds it’s way among soothing strings and broken techno drums. The flipside is reserved for Kirk Degiorgio’s remix of Paralyzed Tribes. It’s an in-your-face club track with a driving bassline and a heavily effected vocal from Mr Degiorgio himself, and is a very interesting and successful approach to Arne’s original track.

Kevin M. Kennedy aka fbk is escaping. Escaping from the everyday struggles of life in Columbus, Ohio, USA. One of his escape routes is his music and when you listen to his tracks you can feel why. His music is emotional to the core, no matter if it’s powerful and heavily funky techno such as “flying hybrids” or dark and sinister straight electro like “chosen path”. Every single sound and rhythm is pure fbk and will cause a frenzy on the dancefloor.
Having released on Shake’s Frictional label as fbk and on Detroit based label Xplor as The Sleep Engineer, Kevin is not a newbie in the techno circus. Diametric. is proud to release the first new record from the expert escapist since 1997. Why he remained below the radar for so many years is a mystery.
BAR25 – Dirty Doering – I Would – BAR25-15

The B.T. ‘s are a Detroit deep house live act crew. This is there first release in the world.. The Ex-Member of Underground Resistance , Derwin Hall bang the dam walls down with this groove..

Australian producer Philip McGarva aka Microworld is well known for his releases on Transmat and Styrax, both of which instantly became sought-after techno classics. Dutch label aDepth audio is proud to present Microworld’s new Time Before Techno EP, with the title track another classic in the making. Microworld’s signature is clearly evident throughout - the slow smooth build-up, with every new sound revealing extra dimensions within the music. Definitely an after hours track that will go straight to your soul. The second track Ism is a minimal but effective rhythm, a driving bassline, a catchy synthesizer and vocal sample that will stick in your head. Canadian producer Arthur Oskan chose to remix Ism and rebuild it into a pulsating 9 minute club track overflowing with warm synthesizers.
